Title: TURKEY ARROWS
Post by: hawkbow on March 30, 2009, 10:28:02 pm
Just finished these arrows for spring turkey... Joe York made most of the points for me and I dremmeled in the serrations, these are deadly and penetrate well ... the serrations can be sharpened with a chainsaw file... penetration through turkey feathrs is like shooting through armor.. the points are built of bandsaw blades from my sawmill.. this is some really hard stuff, the shafts are cedar and ash .. and the feathers are sinew wrapped turley tail feathers.. Hope you all enjoy.. Hawk

Cool arrows and heads Mike.   I have a bow and arrow my wife got for me at Taos NM and it was the personal bow and arrow of the bowyer Vernon Brown, Taos Pueblo. The arrow has a small stone point and Vernon told my wife that he used small points on turkey because larger points would bounce off the feathers.

Mike good luck on the birds and bears. Wish we still had spring bear season here in Colorado. Do spring bear require a drawing for non residents in Wyoming? Cool arrows, never though of serrating. Should help in the cutting department, I wonder at what cost in the penetration dept.  Again good liuck and am anxious to hear the story.
