Title: lesson learned

Cut and split several hickory and hackberry logs last sept.
Well couldn't debark them right away. So today I started in on them.
I got some of them done but it was a work out.
This year the ones I cut WILL get debarked at once.
Lesson Learned!

Ya I learned that one also,I try and cut mine from early June till mid Sept. for that very reason,it will slip right off that time of year.

Like Pappy said, when cutting white wood like hickory or hackberry where the back of the bow is where the bark was attached to the hard wood...it is much easier to cut the tree when the sap is up so that the bark will pop off.
