Title: sinew backing yew ??
Post by: sonny on April 15, 2009, 06:56:25 pm
Is it necessary to remove yew sapwood before sinew backing ??
I'm working on a 60something" flatbow,, have just flipped the tips a bit and considered backing it to maintain the current profile as well as protect the back.

I have read you should, but I know a friend in WA state who builds them all the time sinewed back no problems.

No it will work fine, but if the tips are flipped real sharp you should wrap them at that point
