Not for BOM consideration since it's a redo of a bow I got from a trade.
Here's the story behind the Monster.
I've being developing some new hunting grounds that can only be accessed by either of road motorcyle of mountain bike, for ease of transportation I'm making a short sinew backed guava bow, but that's months away, I wanna make a Guava take down, but I havan't even cut the wood yet,...so I had this 64"ntn, 77# BOO/IPE take down, I pike it retiller it, and out of it I got a 58" ntn, 92# @ 26"
glued some cotton on the back and played with it, didn't like the strait grip of the sleeve so I build it up with leather, than wrapped with the thinnest cotton to keep it small.
Being shooting it for a week now, and feel real comfortable, I have arrows drying and will post pictures soon as well as lots of pictures of the rest of the set up
.....this is the second time I do an exteme pike and weight gain on BOO/IPE, and I'm really impessed on how litle or no set they take

very nice bow, i got to know though. What do you shoot with a 96# bow on those islands?? Dinosaurs??? :o :o
-
Looks like a really good set up. I especially like the modified back quiver.
Now I'm getting antsy to see your arrows :D
-
Nice work Manny!
Really like the backing design!!
-
thanks guys,
sulphur,.......even if i was hunting whitetails I still would use the heavyes bow arrow combination I could, ...You just can't have a too heavy of an arrow ;D
-
Allright here's the arrows.

Man i just have to say you are a real craftsman... Pretty inspiring stuff. Those arrows are really nice.
-
The bow is strong enough, but are those Snuffers big enough to stun that Elephant you are shooting?
-
Bow ready, arrows ready, bikes ready,....summertime hunting about to start full bore ;D

Normally I would like to see a full draw picture, but it hurts me just to think about pulling 92#. Nice set up Manny. Good Hunting!
-
Shaun:
I'm afraid Manny will look no more frowned in the face at full draw than you or me would look pulling half of that weight, so I think we should insist!
-
What a beast! Very nice bow and all round set up Manny, lovely work :)
-
Wisked arrows Manny. I love them! Can we see a full draw?
-
Nice weapon's there Manny! Good luck on your hunt.
-
O.K. here some full draws,..but first, my belt always come with me, so i might as well show it.

Punch the timer button.....10 9 8 7 6 get ready and ...now draw!(dooh) ;D Funny stuff, I can see that pic in my head Manny....
Nice work and love the back on that one. Them arrows might get a bit rough on a mongoose?
-
Love your bows. You should have no problem taking down an elephant with that thing. ;)
-
I'm really enjoying your pictures Manny :). Nice bow.
Broken down, it just fit into your quiver?
-
I need ta start workin out ::)
-
How the hell do you pull those heavy bows back and not rip yourself in two?????
-
LOL Timo, the camera I had before, had a nice blinking lite and audible ticking sounds, made it easyer for a dummy like me ;D
Yeah Kegan the limbs are shorter than my arrows, I'll take pictures of it strapped to the quiver
Billy, I'm 5'6", 150#, 43 years old, and only being shooting bows for 6 years........if I can do it, anybody can !
it's just a matter of commitment and will ;)
-
Thanks Manny. I really like that quiver too, it'll be cool to see it all bound up and ready for travel (truly nomadic ;)).
Manny, do you have any more difficulty shooting short heavy bows compared to longer heavy bows? You don't have any issues with stack do you?
-
Any stack Kegan ? ....absolutely !
As I retillered it and realised that the midlimb was handeling the bending well I keep the outher limbs stiff to improve string angle, but at this lenght it definatly isn't as pleasurfull to shoot as my longer bows of the same poundage, ...but I'll get use to it ;D I'll make it work ;)
I'm not quite 100 % at shooting this monster,...... but I'm getting there, today I was shooting real good, by the end of the week I should be real close to 100%
tomorrow I'll take it out for it's 2nd hunt, if I get time I take pictures of the 2 quivers I'll be using this summer ready for travel with the bow broken down
-
Wow. I think you're the monster Manny :o. Shooting a 92# bow that STACKS at 100% after a couple weeks?
Holy friggin' cow :D!
Can't wait for more pictures.
-
Yeah, but my 100% is probably around 70% for the good shooters ;D :D
On my way out for evening hunt,...wish the monster good luck :)
-
Still, shooting such a short, heavy, stacking bow at your full capabilities is really amazing.
Best of luck, and don't forget some photos :)
-
I really being enjoing shooting this bow,...such a challenge.
Here's the 2 quivers I'll be using this summer ( depending on terrains ) ready for travel,...I have a total of 9 broadheads and 3 Tarantulas, at the pace I'm shooting pigs lately they might last me 5 years :D :D

Slick set-ups Manny. Getting to where the meat is matters most. I been working hard, and would love to be shooting that thing with you..
Rich-No one more fit than big wave surfers...
-
Nice set up Manny- how's that open one hang on your back?
-
That one is a variation of the GFA quiver, it rides under the right armpit, hood forward,...but can be swang back in necessity :)
-
Oh that's cool. It looks good for stalking, but I'm guessing it's not the fastest on the reload like a back quiver, right?
-
I was just sitting here, smiling dreamily at your work. :)
That is a beautiful bow, a wonderful job as always.
I have been wanting to get my hands on some Damascus steel broadheads. They look great.
Good luck this summer!
Sean
-
Thanks Sean.
Absolutely Kegan, nothing is as fast to get an arrow on the string after a shot like a backquiver,...the advantage of this quiver is that is much cooler in hot weather
-
Very cool bow Manny. At 92# it would feel like it was stacking at brace height to me! ;D
-
Absolutely Kegan, nothing is as fast to get an arrow on the string after a shot like a backquiver,...the advantage of this quiver is that is much cooler in hot weather
I keep forgetting about the weather there :D! Between that and the bugs seems like it balances out not having to deal with snow and what not.
-
LOL Pat, I guess the weight plays quite a factor in the stacking feeling,..the bow is 70 # @ 20", 80 # @ 23", ...matter of fact, now that I've being shooting it for over 2 weeks it doesn't feel nowhere near as stacky as it did.
love the weather here Kegan,...the problem here is that's a horrible hunting island,...other islands on the chain are really good hunting,..one day I'll be able to move ;)
-
All your photos seem to scream "vacation" to me :D. I'm sure all the wonderful guava wood groves help balance the poor hunting out a little.
Considering how much game you have taken off the island, I'd love to see what would happen if you moved to a place where the animals are more abundant :)!
... Then again, they might ask you to move back after a week or so ;D
And from the weights you give, it seems like the bow stores the normal amount of energy- and a 92#, 58" stiff handle bow like that that stores maximum energy? Now THAT is skill. How wide are the limbs?
