its been raining just about every weekend this spring.  what a bummer.  on the upside it have given me some time to make a few bows.  this is an ash selfbow from a board colored with black rit dye.  i mixed the dye in alcohol and spread it on with a cotton rag.  not to heavy, i wanted a grayish color.  it turned out pretty well i think.  i have used this on arrows a bit but never on a bow.  52# @ 27"  66" ntn.   still raining a little but i shoots my 550 grn poplar arrows pretty well.  top limb seems to me just a tad weak.  i didn't even notice till i saw a pic of the full draw.  i gues it would have been i good idea to take a full draw pic before i applied the finish.

Nice looking bow Sulphur. I like the way ash takes stain. Very cool looking.

Looks nice....like the Dye Job too....and One Manny Padrone Squatting on Stumps all pumped up is enough for one Board!!!

Great job.  I like the way the dye brought out that grain.  What did you finish the tips with, I can't tell from the pic?  Any close ups?

Nice looking bow,the dye job, looks great. The top may be a little weak but don't look to bad,the main thing is if it shoots good. :) I have got to where I do take a full draw picture before I call it quits
on the tiller,it seems to help to be able to study it a bit when drawn by hand and not on a tiller tree, sometimes it looks different.Nice job. :)

Good use of Rit dye. Looks like a very fun bow. (ps love that clock in the full draw pic!) Bookmarked your bow for May Self Bow of the Month.

I like the color, I think you did a great job.

Good job, I love the way the grain in ash wood picks up stain and dye. The tiller will probably even out over time, the bottom limb often tends to get weaker after a bunch of shooting.

thanks for all the kind words guys.  Aosda the tips are osage i thought it needed just a little color.  will look better once the osage darkens a bit.

That is a nice weapon you got there. I think it looks great...plus I think the corner of your picture frame throws the looks of the full draw pic.
