Title: reverse handle all wood bows
Post by: d frana on June 02, 2009, 07:23:19 pm
I really like the feel of reverse handle longbows, but i don" think I've seen one that' s all wood, ie, no fiberglass.   I' m thinking of making one and would appreciate any tips since i know the riser woods would be under unusual strains compared to a regular longbow.

I've made several self bows with a natural reverse style handle do to knots or the grain of the wood and I'm working on a boo backed ipe that has a semi reverse style handle right now. It's not that hard to do you just have to glue your backing strip/or core if your making a tri-lam onto your riser and then add the belly core over the riser.

Ralph Renfro from Kansas has started making some reverse handle BBO's. Full Quiver (which hasn't posted here in a while) is working on one. I'll try to get him to post some pics. I'll be building one soon. I really like the way they feel and look.
