Title: nandina
Post by: deersled on June 23, 2009, 01:55:40 pm
does anyone know if you can use nandina for arrows or foreshafts? It grows very straight and has many shoots. Kind of like a privet, but I'm not sure if its related.

I have never tried nandina but I believe it is too thick for arrows. Atlatl darts probably as well as foreshafts.

Not sure what you mean by "too thick"?

gotcha!! The ones long enough for arrows may very well be too big around. Think I'll try em as foreshafts. thanks

Dry a few out and see. You can reduce the diameter with a plane or scraper.
