Hi, It looks like a sweet bow. I suspect the silk backing was totally unnecessary, but it sure looks good. Ron
-
I like the way the limbs contrast. One is nice and straight and the other is all snakey. Great work.
-
Thanks guys, yep the silk is just for looks ;)
-
Always like your bows and this one is no exception. Beautiful sky in the background.
-
Excellent work, Manny. Very nicely done. Jawge
-
Beautiful bow Manny, I love them snakey ones.
-
Good looking bow,got to love Osage. :)

Not much a fan of unbacked osage? Well Manny you hurt my feelings man. ;D Course I never made one of those behemouth pound bows either. ;)
looks real swell boy. Profile is cool.BTW those shorts make your but look big.
-
That's a nice snaky bow, I like it.
-
First self bow for July. A very nice one, too.
-
Beautiful bow Manny. Really like that tiller, and the weight ;)
You ran the backing under the overlay- how's that work? And how wide is your handle?
-
thanks guys,
yeah Timo, like the look of Osage belly, but hate the look of the back, LOL, big but, he ?
kegan, I do that quite often, allways worked fine :) ...how wide ? ...let me mesure, but I would quess less than 3/4"
-
BEAUTIFUL!!!
-
PS: did you dye that silk by yourself??
-
Man that is a really great looking bow. Damn.
-
Nice bow Manny. You should'nt have any trouble skewering those tropical pigs y'all have over there with that rocket. God Bless
-
thanks guys.
frank, the print was on the silk already, I liked because it reminded me a bit of indian designs
-
Sweet looking bow Manny. That's interesting that you glue the overlays right over the backing. I never thought to do it that way - I'll have to try that.
-
Thanks Manny. Cloth backings and overlays have always given me trouble. You jsut saved me many more hours of messing up tips ;D
-
Thanks Gordon
Yeah kegan, once you've decided to back a stave is better to do it before the overlays are glued on, the transition than is much better ;D
-
.....Ho yeah forgot, the handle is 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" deep
-
Thanks Manny ;D! Maybe for once I'll get a bow backed with cloth that doesn't look like a dog's been chewing on it :D
-
A always nice bow. Like the silk backing and the curves. I thought it took me a long time to make one.
-
well everybody done said what i would ,so yea great job.
-
LOL ! Is there anything that you cant do Manny ? NICE STUFF AGAIN MAN !
-
Thanks fellas, much appreciated
Kegan, wet the strips of cloth, squize the extra water out and stretch them, hung them, get some TB III on one limb, put the strip down, work the extra glue out
from handle to tip, do the same to the other limb, go back to the first massage the cloth in, do this to both limbs a couple of times, clamp at the handle and tips, ...as easy as that, takes more to write than do it ;D
if you want later after you cut the excess out ( but not all the way flush ) you can apply a coat of really thin TB III, that will help with any possible fraing at the edges ( use fine rasp going from back to outher edge to get it flush ) .........piece of cake ;)
-
Very nice job on that one Manny! ;)
-
Thanks Manny, I'll have to try that. For some reason I always make a mes of TB II and cloth. Wasted probably a quarter of my bottle :D.
So you use a fine rasp to get the edges flush with some extra TB III to harden it up?
-
Thanks Greg.
Kegan if you put TB III over the cloth, you have to do it after it's dry, and the glue has to be quite thin, otherwise the job doesn't look so good, using the fine rasp on an outward motion from the back towards the edges will give you a neet job
-
Thank you Manny ;D! I've always tried to use a razor to carefully cut it away, but it never worked- the final bow was always sort of squiggly and ugly. You've really helped me out.
