My son is 13. He has been watching quietly from time to time as I have been working on my selfbows. He asked about doing one himself. We ordered a u-finish board bow and he received it a few months ago. Well he finally wanted to work on it yesterday. The look in his eyes was priceless. When he finally got the limbs bending and the light went on as to where he needed to remove wood he was off to the races. He got a little to happy and got a little thin at one of the fades but I think we saved it. He was sanding for quite awhile last night and I think he is going to work on it a little by himself today. I was never so proud to watch him work. I hope this goes well and gives me a bow making partner.
I gave him his space and let him do what he felt he needed to do and only jumped in when he asked. I just wanted to share and I'll get some pics on here when he is done.

Congrats to your son. This is something that he can play with for the rest of his life and pass it on to the next generation.
Would he like to share some pics with us?

We will certainly get some pictures as soon as he feels it's done.

Good job!
More dads need to be sharing in everything with their kids.
Your example will be passed on to your grandkids I'm sure!
