OK fellers, Heres my newest bow. Her name is "Hazel". She is 70" Tip to Tip...68" Knock to Knock. 50# @ 28". She is a copy of Gordon Fertlitsch's build a long, here on this site. She is a little longer than his bow, and I am not the Craftsman that Gordon is, but she Ain't bad. My Thanks to Gordon fer takin the time to document and post his build-a-long. It is quite in depth. I also gotta Thank Joe Klink who helped me procure the piece of Hazelnut to work with.

Thanks fer the nice compliments. Its a lot of First fer me. First Self bow that didn't fail, First Hazelnut I ever tried, First time I ever Heat Treated a bow, First time I ever steamed a bow and straightened the limbs so the string hit in the middle of the handle. And the First time I ever put any snake skins on a bow. Gordon's plans took me through all that and more. She shoots well, with only a slight bit of hand shock. I noticed it the first time I shot er, but don't notice it now.

This is a wonderful bow...even Gordon will think so. Bookmarked, too, for July Self Bow of the Month, too.

It's a nice looking Bow....and I know lots of People would not have taken the time to go through all of them off-site....so I thought I would lend a Hand....I hope I didn't intrude........ ;)

Not at all. Glad ya helped me out. Sorry bout that Radius. I posted a pic direct, the other day. Tried to post em all, but got an error that I had a limit on size. Didn't figure it out so just went the only other route I knew. A computer nerd I ain't. I only started foolin with em a few years ago. Never saw a computer when I went to school. Again, Thanks fer the help El Destructo. Thanks fer the compliments too!!!!

No Problemo....I never seen a Computer till after High School either....but now We are telling Our age!!

Beautiful bow, you had a good mentor, and that hazelnut is nice.
-
You are so right Mullet. When I read Gordon's build a long, I knew hit wasn't the first time he'd ever built one on them. Your right bout the Hazelnut too. It worked like Butter. Smoothest wood I ever worked. Thanks fer the compliment.
-
Wow that really looks nice, I bet Gordon is blushing right now. I studied that build along and you did a bang-up job. Very Impressive.

Outstanding bow. I love its slim profile. It looks so snaky. Great tiller. Wonderful all around.

Really nice bow!

Thanks Mike, Gordon's build a long was the nut fer helpin me turn out my first Self Bow. Glad you like it.
Thanks Dan. I must admit I struggle with the tiller on a bow, but this one was easy. It was as if the stave just wanted to be a bow. She gave me some challenges, but no fightin to get it right. I don't want to lay this un down in the grass. I'm afraid I might stomp on it to kill it. then i'd be cryin fer sure.
Thanks Medicinwheel, she was time consumin fer me to build, but I gotta another piece of hazelnut already layed out.
