Good start. The only way is to keep knapping and learn what does and does not work. Keep going to knap in's, a lot of the stuff the knappers are doing will make more sense as you gain experiance. Bill

Looks like you are off to a very good start. I'm not a knapper but I like to hunt with stone points. Your front on profiles look good. The side profile is important also. Try to make the side profile as straight as possible. That is something you do as you are in the thinning process I believe.

thanks , trying to make a hunting head with thin base and strong body is harder than i thought , this sight was a great find vast amount of info on here ,by the way patb love your bow build along

heck of a good start. keep up the good work

You're going good, keep after it. Like anything, practice helps the most. I wish mine looked that good that early in my knapping journey. You will continue to see progression as you go.

Looks like you're starting to get the hang of it, nice work! Be strong and don't succumb to the lure of the evil dark side (Copper boppers.) ;D

I got my things fro Flintknappingtools.com and i got what is called mahgony obsidian from http://www.orerockon.com/ore_rock.htm. You can but cut or rough form and they have great prices. take a look at both sites. the other site i would reccommend is http://www.eskimo.com/~knapper/ this is an excellent site to get information or get other site to buy different material to knapp. drop me a line if you need more information.
