Title: My second horn bow
Post by: Lukasz Nawalny on September 12, 2009, 07:04:51 am
My second horn/sinew bow in my life , this time a little more difficult. Shape and type of work takeoff on hungarian recurve , but recurve tips in hungarian are other - here is my invention ;). Hickory core , elm recurve and handle. 130 cm , about 40 lb. Bow shoot very nice , but ofcourse without speed record - horn and sinew make bow havy ( 420 g) so with this draw weight like I said very good but not great. Almost 30 cm of reflex

Very nice Henry. Full draw looks great. What kind of horn are you using for your horn bows?

What's not to like? What a great profile. Great candidate for September Laminate Bow of the Month!

WOW! Awesome profiles. Your full draw tiller is perfect. Looks like you covered the inner limbs with leather?

Very nice bow. I've always loved that style. Can you post a full draw picture that is all the way back? That style should draw 28 to 32". I'd like to see the tiller when it is cranked back to shooting form.

From  what  I  gather  on  PA horn  bows  are  slow,  doesn't  prevent them  from striking  looks:)

Like said Adam Karpowicz great polish horn/sinew bowmaker - horn bow under 60 lbs  shoot not better then good wooden bow - great performance  this type of bows beginning from this draw weight.  Horn and sinew make bow havy .My first horn bow with 50 lb shoot arround 175 fps and I think its quite good.I want make next bow over 60 lb , we will see .
