Well I started off Yesterday for a 3 Day Hunting Trip with my Best Friend Brad....But He ended up having to work Friday....So I did Honey-Doo's...and packed everything up so that when Brad got off...We could haul Butt to the Deer Lease! We got there right at Dark....so no Hunting for Us that Night....So We went and checked all of the Game Camera's and topped off the Feeders....Well two cameras were full of Pictures....and both of My Feeders had quit working....Squirrel's chewed the Solar Panel Wires off!! So I got them going again...and Hoped and Prayed that they hadn't been off for many Days...went back to the Camper and looked at the Pictures that We D/L'ed from the Cameras on Brads Laptop....just one Buck at His Feeder....and nothing but Doe at Mine...and the feeder quit 4 days ago.... not good! Well We went to Bed at 11:00....got up at 5:30....and headed to the Stands.... by 6:30....it was still pretty Dark....I had 11 Doe and Yearlings on the Ground 25 yards from Me....and 2 Button Bucks....I made a Promise that I would not Shoot a Doe until the Last Week of Season....So I didn't get Skunked.... I am not one to Shoot Momma with the Kids watching.. :(....For about 35 minutes I had nothing but Doe fighting and sparring in front of Me....and no Video Camera to film it with....because the Absent Minded Moron I am....I forgot the Camera...and the Video Recorder...lucky I didn't forget the Bow! I st there till 1:00 pm.....and didn't have anything else besides a hundred Turkeys come in!! So I went back to the Camp....took a Nap....washed Up....and headed out again at 5:00 pm....I sat in my Stand for only 45 minutes when the Doe started camming in for the Corn....Three Doe were eating for quite a while ...when one of them must have winded Me....and they hauled ass....so I sat there for about 45 minutes with nothing moving....but then out of thin Air...7 Doe and Yearlings appeared while I wasn't even ready for them....like Ghosts they appeared! An then about 600 yards across a Winter Wheat Field I seen a Massive Der Heading My Way....My Heart started racing....I started to have problems Breathing.....man I thought that I was going to have a Stroke!!! I have never had Buck Fever so Bad ....and to Top it all off...When He does come in ...he comes in Facing the wind....but for some act of God....He doesn't Wind Me...and walks straight in to the Feed....and then like I haven't had enough excitement for and Old Bugger....This Buck decides that He is going to hide Behind Mesquite Trees....my Feeder Barrel....and the other Doe....just to make the Shot that much Harder!! Finally after what seemed like 2 Days....but was really only 35 minutes He Stands free and Clear of all of the Doe.....but still only offers Me a damned Near Head-On Shot... them to Me) Well at 29 Yards...This Buck is bound and determined to make Me work for this....So I let loose ....He takes off....and I feel like I must have Missed Him totally.....! I didn't want to get up too soon just in case They came back again...so I sat there another 25 minute to be sure....well in 36 minutes...I got up...walked to where He was Standing....I can't find any Blood....no Arrow...nothing....well I was giving up and going back to the 4-Wheeler....when I just about Stumbled over this Monster of the Wheat Fields.... I hit Him just in Front of His Right Scapula (Shoulder Blade)...and the Arrow comes out just behind the Last Rib on the Left Side...and hits Him in the Knee when He jumps from the Impact...When I Field Dressed Him at Camp....He weighed 228 pounds on the Hoof... 7 Massive Points...with a 23 1/2" Spread.....When I examined the Arrow Pass I seen that the Broadhead passed through one Lung....severed an Artery leaving the Heart....and pierced His Liver after leaving the Diaphragm....He didn't run 40 yards...and dropped dead right where I had sen Him disappear....Man was I Souped Up!! I am so happy that I could harvest this Great Beast...and am even more Happy that God was watching Me as I let loose that Arrow....and He made sure that I hit the Mark and there was very little Suffering...I feel so Honored to have been able to be the one to take Home this Awesome Animal...He will be remembered forever in my Heart.......
I want to thank Eddie for the Bamboo that made the Arrow that took this Beast...I cheated and drilled out the Boo and put in an Aluminum Arrow Insert ....so I could use the same dozen Arrows for both Target and Hunting!! I have better Pictures comming....They are on my Buddies Camera....since I have Some-Timer's...and forgot Mine!!! Also just got through Caping Him and putting Him up for a few days in a Cooler.....now that it's 3:45 in the Morning....I think I will take a Shower and go to Sleep!!!!!!!

Thanks Tim....Not a "C" Arrow in the terms that You are thinking....it's a Copycat of a "Cora Knight" Arrow.... except after I sanded the Nodes all down and added the Eatman Aluminum Arrow Inserts to them...I painted them with Black Lacquer.....and the Crested them with White...look at the Diameter of them....they are almost larger than 3/8"...spined out at 75-80 pounds ...but they fly great through a 65 pound Paddle Bow!!

The Arrow did a fantastic Job...but I think that next time I am going to put in smaller Inserts...I think that because of the Diameter of the Insert...The Boo cracked from Impact....but then it may have been because the Arrow also hit the Knee Joint uponnexiting...Sure Glad I tried the Boo....but I never did find the Rear of the Arrow....must broke it off in a Crutch of a Mesquite that he ran through..... :P

Thanks Rick....here are a Few Pictures of the whole deer instead of the Cape........ :P In the One....He says....Something He ate didn't agree with Him!! No.....all joking aside....I feel Blessed to have had the Privilege to Hunt this Majestic Beast...and not Shoot Him from 300 Yards away with a Scoped Cannon......Just hope that He did a good job of passing on His Bloodlines last Year...so that He lives on in another Generation

considering the shot angle,you couldnt plan a better shot placement.
you hit everything that you could possibly want to hit at that angle

Congrats on an incredible kill! That's just fantastic! I saw a bowhunter on TV say if a deer is looking at you, that you shoot for the crease where his neck meets his shoulder, and that's a deadly hit. My brother shot a deer the same way, and he told me the same thing. And now I've seen what your shot did, and I'd say that's definitely a deadly hit! Although your target is kinda small when shooting at the angle, you definitely made the shot, and the amount of penetration was incredible! Wow!!

You just break away from ole Luzzianna ( >:D ) ...and come and see Me....I betcha We can get You a Buck....or a Guaranteed Doe.... :P
And Thanks Guys for the Compliments....and Paul....You are correct....Antlers taste like Burnt Hair... :P.....I am and never will be a Trophy Hunter....but I could never pass up this Beast....never! I felt like a 14 year old on My First Hunt with the Old Man again....Man I thought I was going to have a Heart Attack before He got close enough to draw....I was Hyperventilating.....my Glasses were fogging up.....I was a Wreck waiting to happen....I believe that Someone Bigger than Me guided that Arrow....because....still to this Day I can not remember even letting go of the String....Let Alone Aiming at Him....it's all like a dream.. ;)

Thanks Greg...and Kenneth....I was so lucky to have been there when He decided to come in....I have never seen this Buck on my Cameras or in the Field before....must have been a Drifter!
Dave.....the Bow is 66 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide at the widest point....tapering to 1/4 inch Pin Nocks that have been Sinew Wrapped.... I made it from a Pignut Hickory Stave that my Buddy Johnny from Tennessee sent to Me about 4 years ago...it is covered with three layers of Whitetail Sinew...then wrapped in two Roadkill Prairie Rattlers that I scrounged off of the Local Highways....it is 65 pounds at 29 inches of Draw....not the Fastest of Bows....but I still like the Paddle Bow design....even with it little Quirks.... :P

Thanks Guys....I am greatfull that I had the Opportunity to match wits with the Great Animal....I have thanked God more than once for this chance I'll tell You!!
Update...today I went out to the Lease again...I had to work all week...but the Weather was Bad today ...so they Blew Us Out....Too Windy and Raining....so My Buddy Brad and I went out and weathered what Our Maker threw at Us....We left at three in the Morning and drove the 116 miles from Stinnett to Wellington Texas...got there and went to the Camper and changed and got ready...got out to the Stands at just before 6:00am...sat in the 20-35 mph winds and drizzle until just about 7:15 when I had three Doe and 5 Yearling come in to the Food Plot I have growing....just some Chick Peas...and Alfalfa...well they grazed for about 30 minutes without giving Me any kind of reasonable shot ...then all of a sudden One of the Does decided to play Dominant and She chased the other two off....and One made the Mistake of coming within Shooting Distance of Me and my Kassai Horse Bow and a 540 grain Arrow!! I hit Her with a perfect Quartering ....She ran off and I lost sight of Her in the Mesquites....I waited 30 minutes before I got down....but by then the Deer had come back again....but I didn't want to shoot another one...man I am going to be loaded down for Months now!!! So I waited till they walked off...and I got down...I could not find a Drop of Blood anywhere...nothing....and the Area was covered with Deer Tracks by the Thousands.... I am not one to leave a Deer for no reason...and I knew I got a good Hit.....so I was just about to Call Brad and tell Him the Story....when He texted Me and said He had a Buck down...so I got in the Truck and headed for Him....well His Buck Down meant that He had Hit One...but He too had no Idea where It had run off to in the Thick Mesquites....So in the Pouring Rain...with no Hope of a Blood Trail...We started to walk out a Grid fromwhere It had Been shot....He had found the Arrow and it was covered in Dark Red Blood....which normally means a good Liver Shot...Well it took Us an hour and a half to locate the Buck...and He was only 100-120 yards from where He was Hit....just jumped into some of the Thickest Brambles there were out there to Die! He turned out to be a 2 1/2 year old 7 pointer...After We gutted and loaded the Buck up...We went and Hung Him from Our T-Pole...and went to look for my Doe....it took Us about 35 Minutes to locate Her...She had gone less than 40 yards...but had fallen into a Washout...where She was next to Invisible...I walked by Her twice... but Brad was up higher than I was and had a better Vantage Point...and He spotted Her White Belly in the Draw....so by 12:50 We had both deer in the Pickup and were Heading Home....soaked ....Cold...but very Honored to have been able to take such Beautiful Critters in such an Honorable Way....Brad is at Home right now Scraping the Buck Skin...He has plans to make a Scabbard for His 54 Caliber Smoke Pole...and I just finished Skinning and Quartering the Doe...and I made Enchiladas from some of the Neck Roast that I cut off...and My Wife and I just finished eating...it was Great!! This has been an Awesome Hunting Season for Me so far...I just can't see how Firearm Season could Top this!!!

Thanks Ryan! Yeah...I had Chicken Fried Venison Steak ...Spinach Salad...Green Beans...Fried Potatoes...and Apple Cobbler for Supper last Night....also made up 12 pounds of Jerky Meat....soaked it Marinade for two days...got it in the Dehydrator Tonight! And the Good thing...I still have One more Weekend of Bow Season to Go....and since I Hunt a Lease with only two others...I can Hunt all Rifle Season with a Bow too!! Life Is Good!!
