I have been hunting with traditional equipment for 26years but this year I killed my first big game with my home made bow, IPE backed with bamboo, Home made arrows, wild rose shafts, wild turkey fletching, and my own knapped obsidian points.

23 yard down hill broad side shot. I butchered it with a basalt blade hafted to an elk antler handle.

Hi,
May I be the first to say WELL DONE.
Great looking set up you have there, you should be proud.
Thanks for your time.

Congratulations! Nice lookin' bull!
-
congratulations on a job well done.
-
Thanks for all the kind words.
I found the arrow, tip missing half way to the bull. The Bull ran about 80 yards from where I hit him and piled up as you see in the picture with 2 arrows and my bow. I took the quarters off without gutting him, but I cut the entry hole bigger to see if I could find the tip. the liver was in pieces, the arrow did not exit the opposite side but had a good 20" of penetration.

Canoe,
I built the bow about 2 years ago, 67lbs at 25". It may have dropped a pound or two by now but not much. I hunt in Oregon. I shot this bull about 5 miles from my house.

Josh, don't give up, the shortening of a 30-40 yard shot to a 10-25 yard shot is another step in stalking skill. those animals can really see your movements at that range.
Billy, I live in NE Oregon in a little town of North Powder. it is half way between LaGrande and Baker City.
Thanks for all the compliments people! I have to say I am proud of this accomplishment and it has taken quite a few years to get myself to this point. It is nice to share it with others who know what it takes to "get there".
