Anthony's story is on another page. I was hunting the P & Y stand. This doe came right under my stand at about 1 yard. I let her go under my stand and shot her at 3 yards. Just missed the spine and cut the artery under the spine. She went about 45 yards , stopped, and just fell over. I have seen all 4 deer fall from the tree stand, no tracking needed. Hunting is good and life is good.

HEy Keith,
I've let deer pass when they were almost underneath me because I was unsure of my ability to make a killing shot, but it obviously worked for you. Was she straight down from you? What's your take on straight down shots? I've only killed 1 deer with my primitive stuff, so I'm not experienced with different shot angles.

Ive shot quit a few deer 1-3 yrds from my tree, basically straight down. Ive had nothing but positive results from this shot. Most hit the spine and dropped the deer in their tracks and a few missed the spine but they only went a short distance. The way i see it, an arrow going through the boiler room at any angle is a good thing.

Billy,
The doe was at a slight angle off to my right side, so I had a shot at the side of her not directly down the middle of her back. It is a good shot to take. I have taken 4 deer from this stand doing that shot and have seen all four drop from the tree. You can"t kill them if you leave your arrows in the quiver.
