Title: Bronze Arrowhead
Post by: wkominos on October 29, 2009, 03:54:32 am
I was back in LA from college and got a little time to go down to my Dad's foundry and made this arrowhead. It's made of silicon bronze which means you can't temper it or it gets all soft. Instead you have to beat the living daylight out of it to make it nice and hard. I then used a die grinder to grind it to an edge with smaller and smaller grits, but went slowly and let it cool on its own so I didn't ruin the edge. This was what I ended up with. It is pretty heavy at 297 grains, but I did use a pretty thick piece of bronze and a large design, so I think I can get it to under 200 with the next go around. I think it looks pretty cool, too bad they stole it at the airport on my way back to school.

Nice work.
I have some that are tempered from a friend here in the UK. Very nice.
