Title: check this ebay crap out
Post by: jcinpc on December 15, 2009, 05:57:29 pm
all these pics are copied from other forums or peoples websites and used to build this add. kinda fraudulent if you ask me. Doest Erics rocks know his scale pic is in here?

The really funny part is, the first pic is blue chalcedony from a mine in Turkey.

At one point I was a powerseller of golf clubs on ebay. I had to put that business on hold for a bit. But I still purchase a lot from ebay, especially since it is my primary source of rock. It really pisses me off when someone misrepresents themself like this. It is obvious he is showing the rocks from Turkey (and I found the website he took the picture from) and is going to be sending out who knows what to buyers. I am sure jcinpc is correct in saying the rest of the pictures are lifted also.

The guy is going by SRICH223 on Ebay and is listed as being from Tompkinsville, KY.  I am posting this to see if that person is recognized on PA. If it is a PA person, I am hoping that person will do the right thing and take the ad down. If not, I hate to play the bad guy, but I feel it has to be reported to eBay. I don't want to get burned buying mirepresented rock and I don't want to see anyone else from PA or other fellow knapper bet burned either.

As a followup.... first let me say sorry to PA members for getting fired up. I don't normally get upset very often, but that kind of stuff does tend to make me see red.  I would have been really upset if I had purchased rock from that person thinking I was getting some of that blue stone or some of the other stone shown in the ad and ended up with a box of Kentucky corn field rock. (and I am not knocking KY, I am from KY. Just happen to be living in VA right now.)

Second.... whomever it was ended the ebay ad.  And just in case it was a PA person or that person is following this thread... there is nothing wrong with selling rock on ebay. Just don't misrepresent the rock.

JCINPC, thanks for the heads up.

I'm from T-ville, Ky ???  I bet a quarter I know who this guy is.  It's a small town (2,800 people).   I'll look at the site and see if I can figure anything out.   This has got my interest up.

I couldn't find it >:(  If it's who I think it is...They don't knapp, make bows, or as far as I know have any interest in anything like that.  Sounds like a quick way to make a buck to me.

Woah that would make me mad too, because I wouldn't have known any better until I posted this awesome 100$ worth of rock I got off ebay for cheap on here and asked what you guys thought  ;D

I checked out some of his other auctions from E-Bay.  He sold 25 hickory nuts for $2.50 :o  I gotta wonder who's the smart one in that deal ;D
Hey, anybody want to buy some hickory nuts?  I'll sell them for half that and include a rock to break 'em with ;D

Oh, he had some rock listed as being from Monroe County.  It was round, river washed, with a lot of color...we don't have that kind of rock here.  Not round, and certainly not colorful. In fact, I've been all over the area he said it was from and have never seen anything even remotely like the pictures he had posted. ??? Funny, but sad too.

Hillbilly, I don't know how you recognized the blue chalcedony from Turkey, but you nailed it.  You obviously know your rock. Whomever the guy is, he is not someone I want to deal with and I am glad his ad was picked up and posted here as a warning. On the other hand, if you want some gem quality pea gravel, black walnut starter seeds or porn magazines, this is your guy.

Steven, I've just seen that rock before somewhere, and it's pretty much the only stone that color on the planet.

Shannon, if you do have some of that blue Turkish chalcedony up there in you neck of the woods, I'll trade you four big green 'baccer worms and 17 red corncobs for a box of it.

Heck, I have a whole crop of gum balls that will be dropping pretty soon. I would trade a garbage bag full for one of them rocks. Come to think of it, maybe I should offer a bunch of them up on ebay.  :)
