Title: #2 pyramid bow
Post by: ken75 on December 28, 2009, 12:44:49 pm
hey ,been a while since the mulberry bow this is one i just finished , wood is hickory from a 24in tree on my place . this bow is 62in tip to tip ,2/34 at fades to 3/8 tips . bows back is the split face of a stave so i guess it could be called a board bow although it was removed from the tree with axe and wedges .this bow finished 52 lbs @28 it has 2in of string follow ,i think moisture was still a bit high . heat box for the next one

Ken,

That bow is awsome! Great job! Just inspired me to build one like that.  I have a hickory stave on the way, I will see if it is capable of being a bow like that.

Good job!

Beautiful bow. 2 in is quite acceptable when starting from a straight stave. Truthfully, I think on a pyramid bow getting a bit more near handle wood moving will cut down on set. Kind of a rounder tiller rather than elliptical. :) Jawge

V nice, love the paint job, I like abstract/geometic stuff. A pyramid is on my list of bows to make...I think personally I'd make the handle shorter.

Nice bow... I like pyramid designs. I initially thought your bow had snakeskins from looking at the frontal pic... nice design, should make excellent camo. Your tiller looks good, but I'm a bit perplexed by your grip?? Why did you put the grip so far down middle of the handle? If that bow was mine, I'd put it in the middle.

Wow! I am getting more tempted to try a pyramid bow. I like a little set, too. I have a bow with 2 1/2 inches of reflex, and I cannot shoot it as well as my bows with 1-2 inches of set.

Well done (must be nice not to have snow and cold to stand around in). Got your neat weapon bookmarked for Dec Self BOM fun, too.
