I wasn't happy with the last two, so I made two more this morning.
One of them is very translucent Sonora and the other is Ky blue.
Seems like every little piece of flint I pick up just wants to be a pine tree ???

nothing wrong with having a fav point style that you just keep doing
thats how you get them better and better and better

-
your points keep getting more and more awesome every time you post one!
by the way, when I saw the title of your post, i was half expecting to see a picture of those car air fresheners hanging from a rear-view mirror or something! ;D -josh

Yup yer one sick puppy Shannon :)

That's funny Josh! ;D
I couldn't help but go make another one :o

Great! Now you won't be making all the other styles making the rest of us look bad. ;D ;)
-
sweet!

Shannon: Hope to trade you out of some of those "trees" at the Classic! Joe
-
I just had to make one more before the night was over ::)

I do believe you've got those pine trees down pat Shannon! What's it taking ya now - about ten minutes apiece ;D?
-
Your tip is off just a little,, ??? ;)
-
Yeah, Shannon, Mullet is right, your tip is off a little ! :o I think you should stay off of here awhile just for that! Maybe someone else will start showing some of their stuff, that they have been practicing on for "MANY YEARS" instead of six months! :o Ok, Ok, those are great, and beautiful and all that, but Shannon the tip...... ::) Where's your pride at boy? ::)

I'd be hooked on 'em too, if I could make 'em look that good. You've got those down for sure. Are you pressuring or punchin' those awesome narrow notches?
-
I'll have you two to know, I meant to do that! I was shooting for the "authentic" look :P
Most of the real ones are not perfectly symmetrical either ::)
Steve, I'm mostly pressure flaking them. I've had to punch a few flakes out though.
-
Yeah, but those were by the novice knappers in the tribe ;D......that's why they were found, and not used...... ::)
Still a beautiful point Shannon. You do make me aggravated with myself, when I can't get the flakes to run as far as I would like them to, then I see these. Yep, you need to take a break for awhile, and rest your hands. ;D

Wayne, it's all in the wrist ;)...and the flaker
Is the tip on your flaker round and pointed without any flex?
-
Well the flat one is sort of angled, and one that is flat like a screw driver, and I have a round stock one, that is sort of rounded on the end. Neither is exactly flexible......

I like mine shaped like a small flat screwdriver with the tip about 1/8" wide. I like to run it out just far enough that it flexes a little as I press the flake off. The "Snap" seems to push the flakes a little farther.

Great job on those Shannon, I think I like the last one the best even if the tip is "authentic". ;)
-
We need another smilly icon. One with little hands bowing! Those are nice.
-
Those are too cool

Did I say I love shooting "Christmas trees"! Christmas "red" looks real good on that! ;D
