Those look good, Jamie. The ends of both of my boppers came off today beating that stuff raw.
-
ed i started using hammerstones cause i ruined a very nice moose billet on the raw stuff. just ordered some boppers gonna see if i can get used to em again. ill definetly use em for spalling so i dont destroy my billets
-
Know what you mean, I switched to my hammer stones after I knocked the ends off.

I love Texas rock...heated or not. Ya never know what kind of colors/patterns yer gonna get from it. Plus, it's usually tough. When yer aim is as bad as mine you need something tough.
Nice job on both of those. That knife is slick!
-
Very nice jamie, both of them. :)

thanks guys. shannon i love the unheated texas too, but after working this stuff .................... ;D

just remember that the heat treated stuff flaks nice and Makes sweet looking pattern and makes my work look like i know what i am doing. but for arrow heads the none heat treated stuff holds up Lot better. i do wish i could see these pics i cant view anything in photo bucket.

Doing some good works there Jamie! So did ya cook that stuff in the ground?
-
thanks paul. i picked this stuff up on ebay. now im spalling out the rest of my raw rock for cookin. any ideas on cookin this stuff when its cold. i may have to wait till it gets warmer. little worried about it cooling down too fast.
-
Yeah, I've been meaning to cook some here myself. I don't think the cold would hurt as much as the moisture and the ground has been saturated here for months. I did try it once and even after pr-heating the ground to get the moisture out it still steamed the rocks and fractured most of em. Dunno though, try it with a couple of spalls and see what ya get..
