Very cool! 8) I like it a lot! How long is it? How wide are the limbs? We need more details. ;)
-
Nice bow! Where'd you get the burmese?
-
66" NTN Strung, 1.5" wide limbs, 18" fades. Faux Snake... new method I'm playing with ;)
-
I thought it looked a little funny. Is it painted on?
-
Great job. Really like that bow. Is it Hickory stave, or hickory backed hickory? What are all the specs?
Great looking bow.
Tell
-
Looks like the Faux Skins they sell at Tandy leathers....looks really good though...I like it!!
-
Nice bow,you did a good job all-around. God Bless
-
This has to be my most favorite snake skin bow I've seen, even if it is not real skin. Awesome. 8)
-
Excellent bow Armybowyer, The limb shape, tiller and cures look great. Should be a great shooter and definitely a great looking bow. Congratulations
-
Nice bow! Whatever you did with the psuedo snake - I like!!
-
WOW. That's just... Well, I don't know what to say here, but.... WOW. Looks FAST. Great front profile, great side profile, love the angles, love the curves. Looks like another Contender!
-
Great looking bow! How bout a unbraced pic? ;)
-
Really neat bow! I like it 8)
-
Nice recurve! :)

Unbraced
Solid Hickory riley. No backing.
Not the Faux Snake they sell at tandy's. I have to keep ya'll guessin for now, until I find a better way to do it, then this technique is all yours ;)
-
It didn't look like it...the space between the pattern looks too clear to me to be anything but the wood. Did you happen to do something with a snake shed and dye the pattern on? Or did you peel the scales off an actual skin with clear tape and then put the tape on the bow? Sorry, probably grasping and straws here but I'm gonna keep guessing... ;) ;D
-
NTD i think you onto something there
how about a shed with clear packing tape?
by the way nice bow
how did you put the curves in?
dry heat or steam?
-
okay, one last guess. You took a needle or some sort of tool and punched through a snake skin around the patterns...you then laid the skin on the bow and rubbed dye over it...sorta like a stencil....If that is what you did, wow you're a patient man...and it turned out nice.
-
beautiful bow...I'm gonna get one of your u-finish recurves soon as I get some money in...I love the simplicity of it.
-
Very nice one!
Really like the profile unbraced, braced, full draw!
-
Beautiful bow,very well done. :)
Pappy
-
From Grip to tips -- everything about it is PRIMO man !!! Love that dished grip and killer profile . That bow ROCKS!!!
-
Beautiful bow..cool "backin"
Thanks Leroy
-
sharp lookin bow ;D. good to have ya here, cant wait to hear bout your skin :P Ty
-
Looks like the top limb is bending a lot more than the bottom limb. Are you pulling from the center off the string in the full draw picture? Looks pretty good other than that.
-
Nice I like it :)
-
Got your fine weapon bookmarked for Feb Self BOM fun. Thanks for sharing!
-
Was the pattern printed off a computer? I see lots of bengay dots... I don't see how it was transferred, though... alcohol soaked through the paper?
-
Nice bow. Looks like some sort of gel transfer.
-
just taking a guess....screen printing?? ??? ??? that's all I can come up with
-
I think they were drawn on... Bet it took awhile too... :)
-
Good looking bow.
-
That is just absolutely awesome!
-
just taking a guess....screen printing?? ??? ??? that's all I can come up with
If it ain't Screen printing...it's probably some form of Mimeograph Paper...like they transfer Tattoo Patterns to the Skin with
-
pretty classy lines- not sure about the 'sublimation' but you gave me a great idea- thanks!
-
Nice bow you got there.
-
Awesome bow- love the pattern, lines and profile!
he froze the snake, rubbed ink on it and "stamped" the bow ;D
-
Come on now....how did you do it?????
-
I don't know ...but since He won't tell...I aint voting fer it.......... >:D
-
what i can think of is it is either a stamp or burned in
-
Vinyl graphics? Either way it looks good
-
Cool bow. Now why don't you just tell us how you did it.
-
A very fine bow, looks fantastic.
-
Nice looking bow, good profile. Are you spraying the skin on through an onion bag?
-
Very, very nice...i like a lot :)
how do you think, it's possible to make such bow, with same profile, of black locust?
-
Just wanted to say" Glad you made it back in one piece" and "Glad your makin those cool Bows". Phillip
-
I think we've been used. Not sure how I feel about it. ??? I can't post the link, but just add dot com to GI bow (alloneword).
-
Im more upset that he won't tell us how he put the snake pattern on it :P
-
With red oak, I bet you steamed or boiled. Great bow. Who cares fake, painted, or real skin, it,s all in the art. If it works, shoots, and hunts, that is all that matters.

-
drat....FOILED AGAIN! - that's a store-bought bow - as zen said :D
-
Dang store bought FTW. Do you recon he makes them to sell in the store though? thats what im seein. Ty
-
No, I only made one of them, the one you see in the picture, then I sold it on auction... they are not for retail sale... no one was foiled or "used"...i just wanted to see how you guys liked the pattern... but yea, I'm keeping it a secret for now, sorry ;) but there were some close guesess, but no-one got it.
Justin
-
I have to say, that's an awesome bow.
Looks awesome start to finish. If I can figure out how you did the snakeskin, i'm going to steal your idea for my bow.
Just out of curiosity, 11 Bravo at all?
-
Thanks for the comments on the bow and my service everyone, it is appreciated :)
Not 11B.... 74D used to be 54B.... NBC Specialst, dealing with weapons of mass desruction! yay!
Justin
-
My apologies, Armybowyer - seen a few pigs in pokes on here ;)
-
74D, huh? sounds like a gas. ( ......thank you, I'll be here all week..)
I did the reserve thing for a spell in my youth, 3 years 11 bravo, 3 years 13 foxtrot (Fist team artillery spotter)
Now, when do we get to find out how you did your snake skin?
I was doing a search a while back and I came across several listings for snake skin decals on a clear backing, but now that I'm trying to find them again, I can't. grr.
I know I said it before, but gorgeous bow.
-
One more guess and only because I just thought of this after watching one of my snakes shed...is it a shed skin?
-
Give it up, he ain't gonna tell. He only posted here so he could link to the positive reviews from his web site. Free advertising.
-
Yer perty smart fer a Canadian...... ;D...I beleive that you are 100% correct in your assumption....If you go and check it out on the other sires...and his own site...thats exactly what He was up to...boost sales....with our comments...watta Cad.......... ::)
-
Yep No doubt, but I'd still like to know what he did.... :-\
-
Odd thread...
-
Very nicely done. Jawge
-
Most of you all are full of yourself.... there was only one made, and I posted it so I could get feedback. I never once mentioned reference to my website or the bow being for sale. So for all you being negative, keep it to yourselves. And for those of you for the props... thank you.
Sincerely,
Justin Steinmetz

Well Justin, people come here to bounteously share their knowledge; very much seems as if you came here just to wet peoples' mouth, rather fish for compliments than share, making your little trick look like a great special, or a BIIIIIIG secret. No need to be surprised about peoples' reactions if you come across like that.
For me, I very much like your bow, but I don't give a darn for that backing (I'm kinda sure I could receive something similar, using a shed skin as a matrix)
Cheers, Frank
-
Justin
No negatives here!
Bottom line...Beautiful bow!
As far as your service goes.....GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS!!!
If it were not for people like you who risked the ultimate price, we would not be sittin here wondering about how a pattern was made or ANY reason for showing that magnificent bow.
God Bless...and...GO ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!
