Title: squirrel hunting with primitive bow video...
Post by: billy on February 20, 2010, 05:48:39 pm
Hey everyone.  I just completed and posted my newest youtube video: squirrel hunting with a primitive bow.  The address is below in case ya'll wanted to watch it.  Let me know what you think. Was it entertaining?  Did it flow well? Did you enjoy it?  I'll take any advice or criticisms since I'm always looking to improve my videography/editing skills.  For those of you who love to hunt with your primitive bow, this one's for you. Anyway, here it is...enjoy!

Cool video Billy. Very well done. The music, humor and scenery all fit right in together.  8) The country looks a lot like my club in Oglethorpe Co. Not quite as hilly as in the video but very similar woods.

Billy,
That was so cool ! Nicely done. Thanks for putting in such effort and time. I really enjoyed it. And it brought back fond memories of my first year hunting squirrels with my osage stick. I too had many close calls this fall, but no stew.

That was a lot of fun to watch!  I appreciate how you listed your sponsors!

The music background during the changing seasons was a wonderful match.  Wish there was more like this out there on the Hook-n-Bullet channels, but all they want to show is hi-tech Horn Porn.

You get my round of Applause !!! I was THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINED and captivated by your work. If you're an amateur, you've got me fooled. The entire presentation had a nice flow and stayed on theme for it's entire run. What a cool deal - Thanks!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.  And yes barebo...I am an amateur.  At least in video editing.  There were a few shots during the changing of seasons that were kinda shaky and I don't like, but that is something I'll have to improve on.  I tried to stay "on topic", but I also tried to make the video flow from one thing to another, and not become too long or boring.  It seems there is a lot of trash on both youtube and the boob tube, but I did my best to produce something worth watching.  It's really not very different than when I write an article: I'm trying to tell a story and entertain the audience, but also to try to teach them something.  The lesson I tried to teach ya with this video was....use a gun! It's way too hard to try to kill a squirrel with a primitive bow!  Hahaha....

Just kidding.  Anyway, glad ya'll liked it.  I plan on making more videos in the future!

Diligence,

Most of those shots were within 20 yards or so, but the very last 2 shots were 30 yards or a little bit more.  You can tell they're kinda far when I slow the video down cause you can hear the arrow in flight for a while before it hits the ground.

Another fun critter to hunt with a bow is free range chickens. You wouldn't believe how fast they get educated when you start slinging arrows at them.

EXCELLENT! I really like seeing that. Wish OLN would diversify to include series like that.

I've hunted them raskels before. Not easy.

They've definately earned the name of "Grey Ghost". Anything under 1750 FPS is a handicap.  ;)

Very nicely done.  ;D

Hey, that video is sweeeeeet. I, too, would have loved to see that kill shot. After so many attempts, I was becoming aggravated with you as though I was on the hunt right along side you. I've been considering taking a bow out and try squirrel hunting primitive style, but after watching your video, I don't know if I'm more encouraged to hunt or less...  :P

lol my weapon of choice for the little suckers is a .17 hmr with a nice scope on it. shoot them a hundred yards away before they know your there. :D but once you shoot one you got to get him  and go hunt in another state where  they didnt hear the gunshot lol. ;D
