Title: Set of 3 deer arrows: aka little help from my friends
Post by: half eye on February 27, 2010, 10:51:57 am
Wanted to post these up. I got some really nice cherry shafts from Ken 75, and some really nice obsidian points from Tell...told them that when the stuff got to be arrows I put 'em up.

Here they is: 3/8" at the head of the shaft for 6" then a slow taper to 5/16" at the knock end. Shafts are cherry and the heads are obsidian (like you couldn't tell) I used blue spruce pitch (dissolved in alcohol and then acetone for the glue). the feathers are turkey "secondaries". I choose those because they aren't as stiff as primaries (quieter) and not as soft as tail feathers (little more durable) anyway here they are.

Oh ya the obsidian knife came from Tell also...all I did was put a "loop" at the end. Hope ya can see me grinnin from here. I was thinking about using it to dress out the deer I kill with the arrows....but came to my senses and I'm just going to "show it off"

Thanks you guys, the old guy is happy as a pig in a puddle ;D

Wow.  those arrows are sweet.  They really make those points look good.  the knife looks better with the strap also.  Great job.

Hey Tell,
Just added the strap so I could hang it on the bow rack....had to get right out in the open for what to make my bud's drool.....but not where they could snitch it ;D  I put it on, so that I can allways return it to "original".

Nice looking arrows Rich.  By the way, your bow rack is very similar to the one Roz made for me last Christmas.

Rich, I just can't get over how gorgeous the wall and bow rack are. That will make a fine desktop background for my laptop as any would.

Thank you profsaffell,
I got the bow rack idea from Hagar (his wife made him one for Christmass)....it is just some scrap red oak that wouldn't make a bow and some dowel rods.....nothing special but I like the way it looks and the wife didn't go too ballistic.
