I was thinking of making a bow for my girlfriend 35 pounds @ 26 inches. Will osage backed osage work? thinking reflex deflex, I have alot of osage laminations from some logs I cut they have very little run off. I also have alot of rawhide backing strips, just lookin for ideas, I would really like to pull it off without backing it wondering if anyone has tried it before.

Richard Saffold had one on here last month I think? No worries just glue it up and tiller it out.

Thanks timo, got a couple stacks of them like you had in the other post. Found a post on a woodworking site that showed a rack for quick drying thin slats without damage worked out well. How wide should I go? would a recurve be possible?

Never built one! I'd say whatever works, unless you glue in tons of reflex, just treat it like any osage bow. Recurve is doable.
I did a osage backed ipe last month and it worked out well.
Experiment. ;)

I was thinking of trying hickory backed hickory... I suppose this thread saves me a question of whether or not I should try it ;)

I think osage backed osage will work fine. Got one planned as soon as i find some decent osage slats... Hickory backed hickory is definitely doable. Got one of those :)
