I fletched my first arrow last night. The shaft is made from a poplar shoot (I think it's poplar). I fletched with 2 feathers, just tied front and back with waxed linen thread. I mounted them straight, 90 degrees to the nock. After the fact, I see they typically are with the nock. Since I am shooting off a shelf, does it really matter? One quick trial shot was straight and hard. Felt pretty good. What do you think?

most would tie them parallel with the nock. it will probably still shoot well, and still make noise if your shooting off a shelf.

If they shoot well and fly well, shoot them. That is what matters with arrow flight.

Thanks for the replys. I do tend to over think things. Pat you are right, I shot a few more times at lunch today and it flew great. what more do I want.
