Well, since Keenan has elevated the act of posting teaser pictures to a high art I thought I would share a few of my own. Here are some pictures of a D-bow that I am building for a gentleman in California. The wood is vine maple and the bow pulls 53# @ 27”. As soon as I get it done, I’ll post the real thing. Enjoy!

Yes, very nice...

:)Gordon, Your Bows are always excellent :)Thanks

Wow...that one has some character right from the get go!!! Did you flip the tips a bit, or is the reflex natural ?? Also, this one leads me to ask for advice. When you have a pronounced "hump" - not a knot, but the back has irregular contours, do you follow that on the belly during tillering, or let the limb as a whole tell you what needs to be done?? I ask as I have a Hard Maple stave roughed out and it also has some "humps". Can't wait to see this Vine Maple dressed up!!!
-
Gnarly looking stick.
-
Oh my Gordon, That has all the right bumps in all the right places. Love it and can't wait to see that one finished and bending. Just something about the character bumps in Vine maple that are inspiring.
-
Looking good, Gordon. I can't wait for the rest. Teaser! Jawge
-
gordon did you mean that stick is for a guy in central oregon...me......LOL....nice work bud....i cant wait to see it done...i really cant wait to see you in a few weeks...thanks for sharing...john

Barebo, I added reflex to one of the tips to better match the other. When you have a stave with a highly irreglular back as this, it is best to follow the contours of the back as close as possible - it is difficult to judge the tiller by sight alone. For me these character saplings are the most difficult of all to tiller - but the reward is high.
Thank you all for the compliments.

wow, dude, thanks for the teaser; what you've done already looks great.
Something about that really says that it's going to be a bow, and a good one. Makes me feel like my dorking around with boards is a waste of time.
I want to see more, please keep posting.

Brings back memories of my last build Gordon. Looking forward to finish pics.
Steady on. ;)

It's not quite done yet James. I still need to build up a handle and put on the finish. I'd love to see what someone of your skills can do with vine maple.
-
Gordon are you willing to give dementions of this bow or do we have to wait till its done?
-
Looking good, can't wait to see it finished. I know it will be a beauty. :)

No need to wait: 60" ntn, 53# @ 27", 1 1/4" wide at the handle, 1 1/2" wide mid-limb tapering to 1/2" at the tips. 3/4" thick at the handle tapering to 7/16" at the tips. Mass = 15.1 oz.
-
Gordon is this a bend through the handle bow?
-
Yes, this bow bends through the handle.
-
She's not wearing anything. I'm thinking that's more than just a tease. ;)
Beauty Gordon.
