I was out at my newest favorite place to be when I should be mowing or doing some other Stepford activity (lumber yard) today, looking at yew boards. Needless to say, lots of nice shelves, not too many bows in the stack. Nevertheless, there were several boards there with pretty nice heartwood grain, so, would it be possible to take good yew heartwood and back it with, oh, say, hickory, and end up with a serviceable ELB-ish bow, or is this just crazy talk?

Yes, very possible. I've done it with bamboo.

uh...yeah....you're talking crazy talk! I think you need to will all your wood to me and immediately after that you should have yourself committed to a mental hospital. And make sure you don't get out until I have used up all your wood !! HAHAHA
