Title: More mountain birds hunting
Post by: NOMADIC PIRATE on June 08, 2010, 06:38:52 am
This is particuraly sweet for me since this birds made a complete fool out of me for a decade.

after sitting in ambush for 2 hours this bird gave me a glimpse of his neck, the 30 some yards shot was just perfect and the bird never took a step.

Peacock?  How are they to eat?
Congratulations on the bird - those photos are awesome, also!  Did you hike up onto that ridge-line?

Being trying for a decade, and if I had a bow this one would have been gone too, real, real hard.

Parnell, taste better than store brought turkey, I biked up the mountain and hiked back down the ridge for an hour.

thanks Eddie, ...lots of fletching from this boy :)

Yeah cracker got lots of feathers out of this one

Very cool... had some tame ones here for many years but never thought about hunting them. ;D

Do you have turkeys there or is the peacock as close as you get to an turkey??

The one we had was named Argus...... I think it had to do with the many eyes on the tail.  Hard to hunt????...maybe those tail eyes are not just for show!! :o ;)

Manny, could you do an article/thread on how to hunt peacock?  I would especially like to know how to call the males into range during their mating season.

I've eaten pcock before, reminded me of a big pheasant.
