Title: First bow
Post by: stickthrower on July 18, 2010, 10:47:43 pm
Okay, so here is the "art" on my first bow that I owe MUCH to SailorDad.

I just got this part done tonight, and after a couple more coats of finish, she is done.

Thanks

Nathan

It felt really good to finish my bow.

I went over and SailorDad helped me to make a string for the bow yesterday.  I got that finished, and got it strung up and shot an arrow through it.  It shot extremely nice, very quiet and was great.  I was getting ready to shoot the second arrow, and heard some popping.

Here are two pictures of the bow.  The first is the christling, the second is showing the limb tip that is now up tipped.

I had a blast making this bow, and at least I got to shoot it a couple times.  Only once after it was finished.  But it was awesome to shoot.

Boofus, I did the "artwork" free hand.  I looked at a picture online, drew it a couple times, then went for it.  I thought it came out pretty good.

Thanks, I thought it was pretty nice.  Glad you like it.

Good job, sorry for the incident,However I have a cure, based on the pic on hand. Artificial sinew or linen thread(dacron) wrap the area and make a glue paste ( 5 min epoxy and rub alcohol). About a 3 to1 ratio,Can't tell how much length is involved ,but paint the area with the epoxy/alcohol . It will make a nice finish and probably save the bow. Denny
