In general, a flat belly is less likely to fret or take a bunch of set, but some woods and designs work well with a rounded belly also. It mostly depends on what wood you're using and what kind of bow design that you want to make. A round belly is the ticket for English longbows made of yew or other wood that can handle the round belly. Some woods, such as locust or hickory, I wouldn't try a rounded belly with. If you're making a flatbow, a flat or slightly crowned belly is usually the best way to go.

Thanks Hilbilly ,
The last bow fretted in three spots , I'll try a rounded belly on this last stave and see what happens

If the stave fretted with a flat belly, it will probably be even more likely to fret with a rounded belly. Usually when I get frets, it's because the bow was bending too much in the fretted spots and not enough in others, or the bow was designed too narrow or short for the poundage.

Manny says frets won't hurt a Guava bow.

Intristing guys. Ive bein looking at Mannys bows online and it looks like he uses a rounded belly. I'm gonna keep shooting that fretted bow and see what happens ;D I was just hesitant cause I didnt want it to snap . I'll let you all know if it snaps
