One of my skinny, snakey osage splits had just enough meat to make this bow. I heat gunned the devil out of it to bring it in line. Asym limbs, 60" long, 63# @ 25", with round belly. A pair of carp provided the backing, a buffalo (horn) and an elephant (old piano key ivory) donated the tip overlays, and Monty Python offered the name. "Well you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!"

THANK YOU for that reference to Monty P! I am still laughing over it. The bow is truly worthy of the name, looks just great!
-
Very nice bow! I love the carp skins and the unique handle wrap. Got it bookmarked for July Self BOM fun too! :)
-
So nice to see so many utilizing grass carp skins. Very nice. What is the extras on the tip overs?
-
Very nice, tiller looks right on. Skinning job is beautiful. That is a fine looking bow.

Very, very nice! Beautiful bow, and those skins really pop!
Will you be using it to hunt that "most dangerous of animals; A Clever Sheep"?

Amazing! Beautiful finish work. I like the carp backing. What part of the elephant dontated to the tips ???
-
Gorgeous bow and an inspired name :)
-
Timo, The overlays are buffalo horn and old piano key ivory. Good to see so many Monty Python Fans! ;)
-
Now that's a fine example of allowing the wood to make the bow, and not the bowyer trying to force a particular bow out of a piece of wood. Good job!
-
Nice bow, time to harvest some meat.
-
Very nice. Bet that stave was a challenge, but you pulled it off nicely.
-
Beautiful bow, my leige. That's one of a kind.
I once posted a bow backed with snake skin sheds. I called it "2 sheds", but nobody caught the obscure MP reference.
-
This has to be one of, if not, the best backings I've ever seen !!! The halibut skin was great also, but the scale pattern is killer!!!
-
I can't say enough about that bow. Everything about it looks great.
The carp skins are brilliant, the tiller is perfect, the tip overlays are wicked cool, it's just yummy from start to finish.
A bowyer of your caliber must surely have no trace of hamster in his matrilineage, nor even a hint of the fragrance of elderberries anywhere in his vicinity.
