Nice, Paul. I like that long, skinny one. That is some cool looking rock, too.
-
Thanks Eddie! That one just almost got chunked. It was one of those you think is a waste - squared off and not very wide. Peck, peck, peck and I came up with a toothpick. That hunk of cortex in the middle wasn't helping either but makes it look cool :). Love this stuff, wish I could go back..
-
Good lookin stuff Paul seems like you oughta send those hornstone pieces to me so it can properly appreciated.Ron

Hey Ronnie: Long time no see!

Sweeeet! I like those E-notch Thebes.
-
And this is all stuff that you got out of that creekbed in Indiana? I'm in Indiana myself, I think I have been overlooking some killer rock!
Awesome chipping, by the way! I only dream that one day I could knap like that.
CP

It's down there CP, Southern IN. It works as well if not better than that Georgetown from TX - which is the best texas has to offer as far as I know.
-
Sweet! Is there any tell-tale signs to know for sure if it has the hornstone inside? I notice that you have to break the rocks open to get to the goodies in the inside, is that the only way to know?
-
flint is heavy. your know it when u pick it up.
-
same as coral ;D
-
I go to Evansville a lot. Would it be there?
-
awesome!!
-
CP: I don't know much of anything about IN. But in that creek it was obvious. plenty of limstone around and all these dark colored chunks mixed in. You just gotta start picking through it and hauling out what ya want. If it flakes then take it home, some may be crap but some will work. Leapingbare's right: Flint is going to be denser that the surrounding limestone or whatever and you'll develop a "feel" for it as you go along - it's always heavier unless your in iron ore country, hehehe.
Jeff: Evansville is on the right track, just don't know if it's in that particular spot. Southern IN from what I've learned.. further East to be almost exact.
