Title: breakdown bows???
Post by: volarion on August 15, 2010, 10:49:21 am
I saw some pictures a while back of some bows that could be taken apart at the handle and put back together when needed and apparently still shoot well when reatached I was wondering how this was done how well they shoot and if possible links or pointers on the topic

You cam buy a takedown sleeve from 3 Rivers. They shoot the same if the sleeve is snug.

There are many ways to do it, the easiest of which is buying a sleeve.
Here is a great build along, there are also some in back issues.

I just posted two bows like that(Takedown Twins). A store bought handle is a nce tight fit, and no wobbling, but I made my sleeves from sheet steel wrapped around the grip and finished with small hand made nail-rivets. It's hard to wrap it as tight as it probably should be, so it works a little loose, but so far they shoot hard and straight :)
