ok i'm going to try a elb i have a osage stave and i need to know about how munch sap wood to leave on it or do i need to remove it all and how wide would you make it at the center .
-
No sapwood needed, but you can leave a ring on for effect. ;) 1" to 1-1/8" should be fine for normal bow weights. Maybe add another 1/8" if you want to bump up to warbow weight. This one is 70" x 1-1/8" and draws 88# @ 30". All heartwood, as with most osage bows.

thanks i don't think ill be making a 100 pounder but you never know is a inch deep good and 72'' long sound good.
-
An inch wide should be spot on for 60-ish (?) at 28" with a rigid grip, deep core, and round belly. Shorten up for a working grip.

lovely looking bow alpine, how wide to you make it at the nocks?looks like it does its job too. ;)
