Title: sinew gold from downunder
Post by: ozy clint on August 21, 2010, 12:52:10 am
don't you guys wish you had kangaroos! this is 2 kangaroo tails worth of sinew. the biggest threads are about the diameter of 80 pound mono fishing line, the smallest about 10 pound mono. no need to pound it or anything, just chew or soak it and apply.

Very cool that is some long stuff.  Did the natives of Australia use if for backing as they did out west in the States?

that's a negative. our aborigines never made a bow and arrow. they did use woomera's (atlatyl) and spears. they used sinew to tie on spear points and other odd jobs too i suppose.

Ozy Clint,

Not quite correct there, our Torres Straight Islanders made bows. The Aboriginals didn't but the islanders did, usually heart of black palm, no backing. Remember they are the same people as those who live in Papua New Guinea.
