could anyone or everyone post pictures of the limb tips of your self bows, i have a osage self bow but the tips look a little big ,maybe just me , i will post mine and see what you think.
-
If your tips are wider than 1/2" they are too big. You have seen my skinny tips, always between 3/8" and 1/2" wide at the string nock.
About like this.

yep thats hat i thought, i need to sand them down some more and make em a little more pointy..
-
Everything beyond the string groove is not needed and will add physical weight to the tips so you can thin and narrow the actual tips quite a bit.
-
I make most of mine pretty skinny.

As Eric says 1/2" is too much, would be good enough for 80#.
Some of mine, all of them VERY narrow:

thanks for the pics ,my tips dont have any overlays,do i need to cut a groove on back of the bow for the string ,
-
Never cut a groove in the bow back unless you have overlays on-it's violating the grain and creating a weak spot. That is one of the main reasons for using tip overlays-to allow you to make the tips narrower than you could without that back groove to hold the string.

JP mine are 3/16 wide and 1/4 long,my bow is 60# and shoots great,no shock!
