i've been shooting this one in for the last 6 months now, thinking it needed some tiny little change here or there. it just seems to get sweeter every shot, so i took it hunting on opening day (saturday) & now i just can't stomach the idea of changing a single thing! 70" ntn, 65#@29" thick hickory back on ipe, built up leather handle & golf tee rest with calf hair glued on.
here's a link to the story: http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/topic/37693
(sorry to do the link thing- it takes me forever to resize the pics & get a long post put together here)

pretty cool hunt, i bet you got a big RUSh! jaja good. by the way you got some good sinew for your arrows and bows, not to mention hide to make another cool quiver. Congrats Rob
-
oorah! Now thats cool.
-
dude, just read your story
very cool and congrats on your kill
ive never been elk hunting(but we do have a season here in Mn.)
would love to give it a try,but in mn they give out very very limited tags(all lottery) in a very very limited area.
i have to believe all the hard work was worth every sore muscle.
hope i have as much luck this up coming bunny season and fall turkey, might even give sand hill crane a try this year
once again thats a fine weapon youve made and a very well deserved kill

Very cool and a great shot. I like it when instinct comes into play and does all the work for you...except dragging the meat out! ;D
-
Great story, great result and great equipment! Nice one man :)
-
thanks everyone!
despite the stiffness & soreness, i can't seem to keep the grin off my face. we had some backstraps for dinner last night- definitely worth it!!
there's a bunch of fresh snow on the ground, so i'm expecting a call anytime from a buddy needing help packing out an elk.
-
that was a great read, good job!

Very nice job and good story! ;)
As for having trouble putting up a long story on here???? Just type your story out on word and then just cut and paste it to your post..You could still cut and paste it from PP if in you wanted to. ;)

Very impressive hunt. I'd built one like that - a long HBI, and gave it to a family member, seeing that one is making me miss that bow, I may have to make another!
Awesome story, and congratulations!
-
Rob, great adventure you had from reading your story, Thanks for sharing it and the pictures, Happy Hunting, Ken

It's just a matter of time at this point. Never been on an elk hunt and I'd be hard pressed to find as good a hunting partner ;)
