Post by: luke the drifter on September 25, 2010, 12:00:51 pm
hey folks,

i hope this question is not out of the norm for this community.  is there an actual mechanical device that measures limb strength/pressure/poundage?  i was just curious.

To measure the poundage you have to define the conditions.
The most appropriate way is with a simple spring balance on the string.
Measuring pressure on the catual linbs is problematic and confusing as limb deflection isn't the same as string deflection. E.G If the tips of the limbs come back 6" this will give a string deflection of say 15 inches due to the geometry of the bow.
Dunno if this answers the Q
