Here are a few pics of a recently finished west coast style pyramid bow. Quarter sawn white hickory, 59" ttt, 59# at 26", 2 1/2" at fades, 7/8" at nocks.
I applied two layers of linen backing, used acrylic paint and finished with two coats of satin poly. After 150 shots I notice the upper limb is bending more, but I'm pretty pleased with the way it shoots.

Hrothgar,
That native bow is great....it's short, and ya say it shoots good....and no set at all.....it dont get no better than that. Very nicely done sir. Looking at the lack of set I have to believe that bow is going to last a very long time. Love the colors too

My type of bow! Great job and thanks for sharing.

Very nice! I really like the profile and the paint! That's some serious weight for the length of the bow. Looks like it would do well in the field. Really great bow!

Be proud, Many can't or will venture the art.I like the colors as the design. It happens with the till. Too me for sure also. ...Denny

If the bow is symmetrical, it may be bending more simply because of the way you shoot it. I don't really know of course, but this is what I expect in my own bows. Maybe because the arrow is above center making the top limb bend more to be equal with the bottom limb while you draw. ? I don't know.

Love everything about it, especially the art work. Job (VERY) well done!

These short little "westies" are getting under my skin and I have just the right piece of osage to try one. This bow may be the inspiration I need to get after it! Nice stiff draw weight for that length, I would have imagined a fair amount of set by now! Good work.
One question, why two layers of linen? I'd be afraid of adding more physical weight to the bow with the second layer.
