heres one i glued up week or so ago . finished it up this morning after i got home from work . hickory and ipe 49 inches tip to tip 1 1/4 wide at fades 3/8th at tips. finshed 47lbs at 27 inches . i think the top limb tip is a bit stiff and if turning it over doesnt fix it ill touch it up some. this one is glued up with a setback handle and deflexed tips not sure but i feel it helped with getting this one to full draw . handle is 1/8th inch strip of hickory and ipe. thanks for looking and i hope i didnt butcher this one up i couldnt find much info on deflex tip full draws

Ken! Fantastic Bow, my favorite one yet. Great job on everything finish work looks great.
-
thanks Nate , this is my new hickory i cut ,it and the ipe are great together and really pop when clear coated. this was an interesting one to finish with no sleep off midnight shift and no clue what the tiller profile should be . tomorrow i have one identical but just a little reflex glued in instead of deflex
-
thanks for the comment and the concern Scott these midnight shifts put a damper on bow building
-
pretty cool Ken.

thanks Jeff

A very nice short bow. The contrasts look very sharp. Congratulations!
-
Nice lookin bow.How far are you drawin it in the pic?
Also,you stated,
this one is glued up with a setback handle and deflexed tips not sure but i feel it helped with getting this one to full draw
Could you elaborate a bit on this?
-
Hey Ken...Because with the tips deflexed there,s less stacking thus making a short bow easier to draw?Great bow I love the contrast between the different woods,-Hammertime
-
I like it. Looks simple, but beautiful. How does it shoot?
-
very nice bow ken!!cant wait to see the reflexed tips.
-
Way Cool Ken, got a sexy braced profile, then damned if it dont go full circle at draw. Just too nice. Glad ya put the arrow in too....shows just how short that little bugger really is. Ya never cease to amaze me, sir

Traxx it will full draw to 27inches i think i was starting to let down in the pic my 9 yr old was taking the full draw for me,also the deflexed tips allows for almost zero stress at brace so full draw is easier to achive...ill test this i just glued up an identical bow with 6inch recurves
thanks hammertime
Cam thanks im gonna walk her today ill let you know
thanks Randy, thanks Rich i have the advantage of bouncing ideas off a good bowyer
thanks Pappy, have to try that
thanks Frank
thanks Hatch and del

I'm thinking about giving that bow a try, how much bend did ya put in her, thinking about going 52" long, let me know, Bub
-
That is a fine looking shooter.
-
bubby i just glued it up backwards in my reflex deflex form. bout three inches of limb deflex
thanks lombard, it is
-
I like that, Ken! Looks pretty and I like short.
-
Ken,
Here is a point i have tried to make, many times in the past and you make my point exactly. Now that you have done a bow like this, you can understand my point more.
bubby i just glued it up backwards in my reflex deflex form.
Actually, you glued it up the proper way, cause it is a Reflex/Deflex.Glueing it up the other way, would make it Deflex/Reflex.
Are you seeing what im sayin?
-
How does it shoot? looks great!
-
thanks Eddie
traxx i understand thats why i used the form backwards
aries i almost thought of starting a new post this thing is amazing no stack and awesome cast never would have thought this design would be efficient, very sweet shooter
-
Pappy was reading my mind on this one....would be a great tree stand bow. Great job!!! I love short bows...

Ken,
It tickles me to hear how you like this design. This design has gotten a bad rep from severall people,in recent years.i think if people would give em a chance, they would learn to understand and appreciate em more. Many Native Nations from throughout the country used em for many many years. They used em for a liveing.Maybe they knew something modern bowyers dont.
-
thanks straightarrow im gonna try it in a stand soon.
traxx it was my intention to make a full draw 49inch bow and this design just sorta happened ,after the glue up i decided it had the best chance for sucess since there was no preload at brace , im still amazed at the size of this thing and how much it draws and shoots like a serious hunting bow. the cast is as good as my long bows in the 50lb range . never thought a bow this small and with deflexed tips would be a favorite . theres going to be more of them
-
Ken,
Kind of a bumb question.....since the bow comes to full circle at draw and yet has the r/d thing going on do you think that might account for the cast" Curious cause I've never shot one.

buckeye i started with two ben pearson and one shakespere recurve when i was ten or twelve graduated to a bear whitetail 2 , then got started shooting 3d competitions when i was in the corps with a PSE , when i came home i dug out the old recurves and found out why i used to like shooting. from that point on i backed into wood bows, two years of making and breaking without reading the instructions .finally i found some articles by Murray Gaskins on the net, and not long after found this place and bought the tbb series.as far as im concerned i will never reinvent the wheels , i enjoy tweaking the designs and building bows based on NA designs but i will not go back to man made materials . just wouldnt be as fun. this bow was finished about my one year anniversary for successful bow building. it makes 43 and i have two more cut out and two glued up , and ten more twirling in my head . im having enough" fun for all" . ken75
