Title: makeing a osage long bow into a osage recurve??

have a 62" osage self bow 62" nock to nock 47-50@28 elk sinew back with snake skin on top ,could i make this into a curve,its all been tillered and have been shooting, was just wondering if anyone has done this? i love my self bow but a osage curve just puts a fire in my eye ,i have one from curt brisky hopeing in a month comeing to me .im not going to try it i love it to much ,i was just wondering if anyone has done it.

It can be done but it will add more stress to the bow. Also, where you heat the tips to recurve them the sinew backing should be removed. The heat needed to bend the wood will overheat the glue and sinew.

I have put curves in an osage selfbow before to gain a few extra lb's but never with sinew.... I think I would get a new stave and start from scratch.  Good Luck!

I agree. More trouble than it's work in my mind. But it could be done.
