Title: sinew question..
Post by: aero86 on November 10, 2010, 12:59:49 am
got some sinew the other day.  its back sinew so its long and flat.  i plan to use it for backing a bow with.  ive processed some of it, using a plastic brush to comb it.  i broke it, and the brushed it a bit.  most of it got pretty fine.  question is, when processing sinew for backing, do you comb it fine or can you leave it kinda coarse.. like 1/8 inch wide or so?

also, ive got a piece of osage, but i really dont think its gonna work, so im thinking of just using a piece of red oak again to create a asian style bow.  sinew backed this time, but still 48 inches long with siyahs..

I've read there is no performance difference in fine or thicker, but I'm processing them finer for looks.
