Title: Texas Root Beer
Post by: mullet on December 24, 2010, 01:53:25 pm
I haven't had much time lately to do any chipping. But the sun was out and the weather nice this morning. My buddy Rick has a few hundred pounds of Texas Edwards that is transluscent brown. This stuff works like a dream. He gave me a couple of pieces to try and I sure do want some more. I bopped this one out this morning.

Thats a Pretty point ! Yep; That stuff is dream rock.
Jim Minter sent me some of that, 4 or 5 years ago. I carry a small biface of it around in my pocket to keep myself reminded I am a flintknapper ,by God. (The rest is hoarded away from human eyes). My best hunting heads are made of it. Plenty tough and yes ,it works like a dream.   Nice !  '  Frank

Looks like a dang kolrobi! :)

Sweet point and material! I like the way you thinned the base.
If that stuff was a little darker I'd call it Knife River.
Thanks for the pics.

Thanks guys, I hope gets back soon. :)

Frank, you guessed right, it's collards, right next to the Bell Pepper, mustard greens and cabbage.

Very nice, and beautiful rock!  So what is his vice, not that I would attempt to use it to my advantage for rock......or anything like that...... ::)  Good looking collards too.  I love em, mustard even more! ;)
