I like to buy old carbon knives at the Flea Market and refinish the handles. I picked this one up for 50 cents with only half a handle. I had this pretty piece of apple and they looked like they needed each other.

Nothing wrong with that...I have some old ones that I am planning to do the same thing to.
-
nice eddie.

Very nice ! (I like the shape of that blade). I use apple wood too. Got a bunch of it at this new place we have landed. Pear is also good. What are you putting on there for a finish ? ' Frank

I've soaked in a wax and orange oil finish. Then put it on my wheel buffers with rouge and more wax.
-
Good looking piece of work Eddie I'd say you were right they did need to be together.Ron

That looks good, Eddie. I like that applewood. Is that an Old Hickory?
-
Steve, I think this one pre-dates Old Hickory. I didn't scratch the old patina, and there is no name on either side of the blade.
-
Sweet. I like finish you used on it.

Sumpin' special about putting old steel back to work. Just feels right. Just like that knife just looks right. Good work.

This knife just looked cool, with the upswept curl. I was going to try and duplicate a scalping knife when I saw it. But, I quit while I was ahead.
