Title: Elk Antler Billets
Post by: rileyconcrete on January 12, 2011, 08:10:33 pm
Here are a couple of billets I made over the last couple of days.  The small one is about 8 oz and 1 1/2 inches across.  The big one is exactly 1 lb and about 2 1/4 across.

The small one I used and man do I like it.  It is great on  bifaces.  The large one I just finished today and havent got to use yet.

Here are some pictures .  thanks for looking.

josh, best to use the base of the horn, and even better if it was cut from the skull- not a shed- cut as close to the skull as possible for moose-like density.

These are from sheds. I cut the tines off and the burrs and took a rasp to shape them.  They should have some good life to them though.  Way cheaper for me than moose.  I have more if anyone wants one.
