Title: A Gift To My Grandfather
Post by: Silent Bear on January 18, 2011, 08:34:35 pm
I wanted to make a special bow for my grandfather he was the first to introduce me to the sport of archery without him I would not be shooting or making these bows I really appreciate all that he has done for me. This bow is made from my best piece of mountain juniper backed with 3 layers of sinew the stave was taken from an old juniper tree close to captain jacks stronghold. This bow is 39 inches long 37 1/2 inches from both nocks, 2 ply sinew bowstring 55 pounds at 22 inch draw, painted with the traditional design of my tribe the Atsugewi the bow is drawn 16 inches in the picture to not stress it while I take a pictures thanks for looking.

Silent Bear, I am so impressed with your work. 37" NTN and 22" draw is great and the tiller and workmanship is inspirational. Very sweet bow and great thoughtfull return.

It goes without saying that is a very fine bow. As a grandfather myself, I think his heart will be filled that you are keeping traditions alive and have learned his lessons very well indeed. That is your gift to him, and I'll bet he's proud as all get out.
