ok i am still really new to this but what is a elb? i see it pop up all over?

It's short for English LongBow.

An ELB is an English Long Bow. These are long(man size),relatively narrow bows with deep, rounded bellies. I guess a true ELB would have a stiff handle but the old war bows bent from tip to tip is the arch of a circle.
