Tried to glue a riser to an Ipe slat today, the riser had a curve in it. I bent the ipe over the riser clamped every inch, let the glue dry and unclamped. The slat came right off the riser. I was using titebond 2. I cleaned the wood with acetone prior to glueing. Any suggestions.

not take acetone, only soap and plenty of scrubbing with brush
Acetone takes a lot of oil and resin to the surface
Epoxy for bonding to take

I've glued risers on with tight bond i clean it with denatured alcahol you must have a good wood to wood fit and let it cure for at least 24 houres.

Ipe is tough, bending it around the riser might be difficult. I usually back with bamboo glue the backing and Ipe into a R/D then shape the riser to the handle area.

If your joint is so loose that you to work to get it to mate up you are courting disaster.
