Post by: rwaterman00 on February 10, 2011, 03:13:32 am
well heres the best argillite points to date i have made. i quarry this stone allong the delaware at a location which i read in an old book is a quarry which existed during the clovis period. there is a nice pic of my boy spalling at 10 yrs old.
he spalls it and i carry it down the hill across and down the creek. ( i passed out one time with a backpack full.) i think he got the better deal ;D

no thats onondaga that smells oily
argillite smells kinda like clay.
it's indurated clay actually. the same as slate and shist. i think what makes it different is there is a high amount of silica in it.
