Title: American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana)
Post by: Perdix on February 14, 2011, 08:47:16 pm
Im new to making bow and also this forum. I was wondering if American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) was capable of making an English warbow of 90LBs or more.  i have available some on my property(not actually my property, grandfathers ). If not are there any other woods you know of in Maine capable of making English war bows. Thanks for help

I don't have much doubt that it could be used so long as your dimensions are appropriate
but I don't think I've ever seen one straight enough.
Please post pics of the staves you collect.
