Im new to making bow and also this forum. I was wondering if American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) was capable of making an English warbow of 90LBs or more. i have available some on my property(not actually my property, grandfathers ). If not are there any other woods you know of in Maine capable of making English war bows. Thanks for help

I don't have much doubt that it could be used so long as your dimensions are appropriate
but I don't think I've ever seen one straight enough.
Please post pics of the staves you collect.

I have not gotten yet. I did not want to cut down tree if there was a reason it wood not work, i think horn beam takes a long time to grow. but when i do i will remember to post pics.
